A Brief History of Comedy Night

In 2007, Ben Weber and Meg Griffiths worked in the BAM Development Department.  Without a good answer to the question why no stand-up comedy had ever been programmed at BAM, they brainstormed the show they would like to see.  Over the course of the next 16 months, they met with BAMcafe Executive Producer Darrell McNeill, and various members of the BAM Press, Communications, and Production departments.  After much anticipation and hard work, Comedy Night at BAMcafe -- the first stand-up show in the 150 year history of BAM--was ok'd and took place on Friday, May 2, 2009.

Thank You's

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Darrell McNeill for his wonderful support.    Thank you to our families, friends and BAMmies for their love and laughter.  A huge thank you to Brooklyn and to each and every member of our wonderful audience, who continue to turn out in droves, forcing us to capacity at every show.  We remain dedicated to bringing New York's finest comedic talent!

Meet the Producers

Meg Griffiths is a comedian, improviser, writer, producer and identical twin.  She loves to use her malleable facial expressions, physicality, and off-beat humor to go to great lengths for a joke.  She has performed in hundreds of long-form improv shows and is a faculty member at the Peoples Improv Theater.  She performs weekly with The Baldwins.  Meg is proud to be a part of BAM history as co-founder and co-producer of Comedy Night.   www.meggriffiths.com

Ben Weber had an idyllic boyhood in Whitefish Bay, WI, only to truly become a man in New York City.  At NYU,  Ben made his own major called "Theatricality and Taboo."  He gave the commencement speeches in high school and college.  Ben is the co-founder and Creative Executive of the comedy video art production comapny, Deli Proof Collective.  He performs in plays, improv shows, and performance pieces around the city.   Ben also plays the didgeridoo and is genuinely fond of the G train.
